Job Rotation
Job rotation can be introduced as a management technique where employees are rotated between various assignments or job tasks with the aim of exposing them to various segments of the organization. This is a management approach which is helpful in revealing the skills and potentials of employees for appropriate job roles. It gives a sound knowledge regarding the tasks of the organization. Monotony of the work is decreased and helps to achieve the goals of the organization with a broad vision.
Objectives of job rotation
Exposing employees to all spheres of the organization
Exposing employees to all spheres of the organization gives a clear idea about the organization to its employees. Employees are given a chance to understand the goals, and operation of the company. This is helpful in doing their tasks efficiently. Employers are given a chance to allocate tasks and responsibilities for the most suitable person.
Decreasing the monotony of work
This is one of the main objectives of job rotation. Monotony of the job adversely affects the productivity and the efficiency. By giving chances to experience various responsibilities, tasks and have different relationships it is expected to enhance the productivity, efficiency and job satisfaction.
To replace employees for work
Organizations face problems in replacing someone after their retirement or when they leave the company. When a pool of employees is available to replace, when someone leave or promote for a senior rank it is easy to replace. Immediate and efficient replacements can be done due to job rotation.
Allocating the suitable job role for the employee
Job productivity is a significant factor for the growth and success of the organization. When suitable job is given to the appropriate person they can contribute their maximum performance to the work. It is beneficial to the employer as well as employee in career development.
Evaluating skills and performance of employees
Through job rotation it is expected to evaluate the level of capabilities and proficiency of employees. By shifting employees to various jobs helps in exposing hidden skills and weaknesses of the employee. So, the assistance can be given to develop their skills and avoid their weaknesses.
Advantages of job rotation

· Job rotation is not appropriate for all the industries.
· Employees sometimes feel uncomfortable and decline in performance and productivity can happen. (Plotnek, 2021).

Job rotation is one of the efficient ways of avoiding boredom of work and stimulating the mindset of people through new challenges and experiences is one of the ways of achieving high performance. (Charity, 2015) Organizations use job rotations to achieve various objectives. It should be remembered that job rotation is not applicable for each and every industry.
